Gregory K. Pfistner, 53, of Huron, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Greg was born Sept. 9, 1954, to Kenneth L. (formerly of Sandusky) and Ruth L. (Millis) (formerly of Vermilion) Pfistner in Muskegon, Mich. After moving from Twin Lake, Mich., at the age of 6, Greg became a lifelong resident of the Huron area.
Greg's education was extensive and he was an avid lifelong student. While attending Huron High School, he was active in Science Club, Honors Chemistry, National Honor Society and ranked in the top five percent of his 1972 graduating class. While attending Bowling Green State University he majored in psychology and chemistry. He was a member of Psi-Chi (National Psychology Honor Society).
A few years later, Greg realized his true calling was his computer proficiency and his love of electronics building and troubleshooting. His job history included Orius Corp./Lisn Inc., Epic Technologies, Rockwell-Collins Avionics, R.S. Business Machines and Don Barr, Inc. Greg's other passions in life was his love of the arts, nature and the human spirit. He played the piano and synthesizer; was a photographer; took in strays and nursed wounded animals; but most of all, always gave his ears, heart and hands to anyone who needed him. His loving, caring and unselfish nature grew exponentially with his years. Greg and his family were proud of his associations with Koba Productions (maker of Civil War and historical documentaries) where he served as a production coordinator and his 18 years of service to the Harlequins Theater in Sandusky, where he served as a sound and light technician.
Greg is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Ruth (Millis) Pfistner; a sister, Sharon (Dino Jr.) Caporini and a brother, Jeff Pfistner, all of Huron. He also leaves behind another sister, Beverly (David) Poulson, of Newton, N.H. Surviving nephews and nieces include Tony (Heidi) Caporini and Jaime Caporini of Huron, Marcie Caporini of Sandusky, Travis Bissey of Martha's Vineyard, Mass., Joshua Bissey of Milwaukee, Wis., and Cody Poulson of Newton; and Greg's great-nephew and nieces Kristian, Isabella, Aliyah and Taylor.
Greg's cremation will be handled by Foster Funeral Home, Huron. There will be no public services, but Greg and his family ask that his friends remember him in their own special ways.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in Greg's honor should consider Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or a charity of one's choice.
