Frank "Bubba" Woods Jr., 65, Sandusky, departed this earthly existence to be with his heavenly Father, Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2008, in Admiral's Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Huron, after a brief illness.
Frank, eldest son of Frank and Blanche (Brown) Woods Sr., was born Oct. 14, 1942, in Brookhaven, Miss., and attended Sandusky High School. He earned his GED after enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving his country from March 1964 through January 1968.
At an early age, Frank united with Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he participated in youth programs and activities of the church, and was a member of the Boy Scouts.
Upon his return to Sandusky, Frank was reinstated with Ebenezer Baptist Church, and sang in the men's choir and was the 2007 Men's Day chairperson.
Frank was employed by the former New Departure-Hyatt in Sandusky; the gaming industry in Las Vegas; Veterans Hospital in Los Angeles; and retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Torrance, Calif.
While living in Nevada and California, Frank was not deterred from his passion -- rooting for the Cleveland sports teams and the blue and maize of Michigan. Relaxation for Frank was casting his reel and tee time; he was an avid fisherman and golfer.
Already missing the physical presence of Frank is his daughter, Keli K. Woods-Jordan; granddaughter, Taylor Samone Jordan; sisters: Marjorie Taylor, Irma Pearl Woods, Geraldine Darden, and Pamela Kidd; brother, Anthony L. (Stephanie) Woods Sr.; foster sisters, Karin (David) Moore and Mary Ellen Brown, all of Sandusky; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Phillip and Mae Lou Brown; paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Fannie Woods; foster sister, Denise R. Brown; and nephew, Scott V. Green.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky, and from 11 a.m. ,Wednesday, until funeral services at 1 p.m. The Rev. Franklin Churchwell will officiate. Cremation will follow.
The family will receive friends at 1342 Avondale St., Sandusky. Arrangements entrusted to Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, Sandusky.
