Hubert C. Young, 79, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday evening, Feb. 20, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Feb. 14, 1929. He was a graduate of Toronto High School, Toronto, Ohio, and a 1949 graduate of the Cleveland School of Mortuary Science. Mr. Young owned and operated Foos-Young Funeral Home, later known as Young Funeral Home, in Attica, Ohio, for many years. He later worked for Corrigan Funeral Home in Cleveland. He retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in Sandusky, where he worked as a pathologist assistant for several years. He enjoyed his hobby of creating model airplanes. He attended Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Attica, and was a life member of the Sandusky Eagles 444.
He is survived by his son, Stu (Donna) Young of Norwalk; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and fiancee, Mary Jane Bakeall of Attica.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verda J. (Jones) Young (Oct. 29, 2006); son, Stephen Young (1991); his father, Hubert Martin Young; and stepfather and mother, Paul and Emaline (Hamilton) Stockman.
At his request, there will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 14204 E. County Road 56, Attica. The Rev. Joseph Szybka will officiate. Interment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Arrangements entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral Home, Sandusky.
