Mildred "Millie" Holmer, 85, of rural Republic passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, in St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
She was born March 29, 1922, in Reed Township, rural Republic, to Henry and Gertrude (Hossman) Schoen, now deceased. Mildred married Norbert F. Holmer Sept. 1, 1962, at the former Assumption Catholic Church, Reed, Ohio. She was a member of the former Reed Assumption Church, St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed baking, especially elderberry pies, and also gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Norbert; a brother, Sylvester Schoen of Bellevue; and two sisters, Agnes Holmer of rural Republic, and Theresa Elmlinger of rural Monroeville.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her brothers, Leo Schoen, Urban Schoen, Joseph Schoen, Earl Schoen and Henry Schoen; and sisters, Edith Swope, Rosemary Holmer, and Sister Mary Edith Schoen of the Sisters of St. Francis.
Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. today with a rosary serviceat 3:30 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A Funeral Mass officiated by the Rev. Jim Holmer and the Rev. Paul Fahrbach will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church. Burial will follow at Reed Assumption Cemetery.
