Helen K. Zahniser, 102, of Sandusky, passed away late Saturday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2008, in Erie County Care Facility, Huron, after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 25, 1905, in Deshler, Ohio. She retired from Philco Corporation where she worked for more than 30 years. Years ago she attended Salem United Methodist Church. Helen's life was devoted to serving her family and friends. A tireless worker, she demonstrated her love of the Lord by caring for and putting others first. She had compassion for all, especially children and animals. Adored by those who knew her, she was lovingly called "Gram." She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Ray (Nancy) Zahniser of Sandusky; five grandchildren, Lynn Zahniser, Rae Sue (Ken Zorn) Zahniser, Mike (Jennifer) Zahniser, and Mark and David Zahniser; five great-grandchildren, Rachel (Jack) Flynn, Starr (Brent) Bottles and Carly, Luke and Pari Zahniser; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Roy R. Zahniser in 1980; her parents, Jerry and Cora (Kriss) Sheets; and a brother, Walter Sheets.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Thursday at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Private family funeral services will follow visitation. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia.
