Estella M. Barnum, 86, of Sandusky, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at her residence.
She was born May 12, 1921, in Sandusky. She was employed by Whites Machine Shop, Apex, Philco and Hills Department Store. Estella was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where she served on several committees and helped with the church newsletter; American Legion Post 83, Auxiliary, Sandusky; and she loved sewing, baking, walking and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Hurless W. "Bud" Barnum Jr., to whom she was married Sept. 11, 1937; sons, Lester J. "Butch" (Denise) Barnum of Castalia and Robert J. (Yoshika) Barnum, Irvine, Calif.; grandchildren, Beverly Barnum, Stephanie Barnum, Anne (Ron) Barnum Sarrica, Dustin Windisch and Dana (Zach) Belak; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alexis, Alania and Elizabeth; sisters, Ada Gardner of New London and Jean (William) Holly Edwards of Mansfield; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Sanders; mother, Catherine (Bostater) Ray; stepfather, A.C. Ray; and a brother, Charles Sanders.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until funeral services at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills St., Sandusky. The Rev. Gary Ulrich will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
