Norma Jean Sarrica Lapata, 49, died Feb. 14, 2008, from complications of rheumatoid arthritis.
She was born Sept. 4, 1958, to Gloria (Ries) Sarrica and Anthony"Tony" Sarrica, in Sandusky.
She attended St. Mary's Elementary School and was a 1976 graduate of Sandusky High School. Norma also was a 2005 graduate of Ohio Institute of Health Careers Medical Assisting Course. She worked at Golly Gee Drive-in, Universal Clay, Chef's Pantry, Georgia Pacific and Sandusky Pediatrician's office. She loved animals,especially her cats.
Norma is survived by her husband, Mark A. Lapata, whom she married July 24, 1999; two daughters, Fernanda Lynn Maldonado and Felicia Lynnette Maldonado; one granddaughter, Lynnette Elizabeth Coleman; and two stepchildren, Eric Michael Lapata and Hannah Marie Lapata.
She is also survived by her mother, Gloria (Ries) Sarrica; two sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Pierce of Minnesota, and Dian (Dan) Fultz of Berlin Heights; two brothers, Donald A. (Patricia) Sarrica, and Michael (Rhonda) Sarrica; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Sarrica, in 1976; her grandparents, Ferdinand and Norma (Lieb) Ries, and Anthony and Grace Sarrica; and several aunts and uncles.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, and from 9 a.m. Saturday, until time of funeral service at 10 a.m., in Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
