Juanita Betz, 86, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, May 29, 2010, at Firelands Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family following a sudden illness.
She was born Dec. 22,1923, in South Charleston, Ohio, daughter of the late Gladys (Mongold) and George Bowman. Juanita was a homemaker and a talented musician. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ, accordion and guitar. She shared her talent with the congregation at the former Holiness Church for several years.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Juanita is survived by her husband, Irvin Betz, whom she married June 23, 1969. She is also survived by daughters, Linda (John) Mallow of McKinney, Texas, Alberta "Judy" (James) Porter of Castalia, Catherine (Robert) Victory of Wolfe City, Texas, and Roxanna (Charles) Binion of McKinney; stepson, Eugene Angel of Gallipolis, Ohio; 35 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her sons, James R. Massie and William "Bill" Angel; grandson, James A. Massie; great-grandson, James Thomas Massie; stepson, Robert Angel; stepdaughter, Eleanore Wellington; her parents; brothers, Albert Bowman and Ray Bowman; and sister, Viola Mae Hester.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
