Ted F. Bilger, 89, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2008, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
Mr. Bilger was born in Feb. 2, 1919, in Huron County, son of the late Howard and Margaret (Ritter) Bilger. He attended Norwalk schools and later Thompson School. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Adams Twp., a life member of the Bellevue VFW, a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Bellevue Lodge, life member of Brick Layer Union Local 46, and a former Boy Scout leader. Ted retired as construction supervisor for Jennings and Shuella Construction Co.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherrie (Paul) Szucs, of Bellevue; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Bilger, Monroeville; two sisters, Marian Berberich, Bellevue, and Sarah Nigro, Norwalk; and two brothers, Jack (Shirley) Bilger of Helena, Ohio, and William (Ann) Bilger of Bellevue.
Mr. Bilger was preceded in death by his wife, Garnita (Butz) Bilger, whom he married Oct. 20, 1939, and she died March 22, 2007; and son, Bruce C. Bilger, July 5, 1980. Also preceding him are siblings, Ned Bilger, Howard Bilger, Mary Brooks, Molly Bollenbacher, Mildred Halverson, Nadine Showalter, Pauline Thorn and Marquerite Bilger.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday in Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, in Zion Lutheran Church, Adams Twp., with the Rev. Kathleen Shuck officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, with military graveside honors provided by the Bellevue VFW and American Legion.
