Luvada Stovall, 78, Sandusky, departed this life on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, in Providence Care Center, due to a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Sandusky, and was a 1947 graduate of Sandusky High School, where she was a member of the A Cappella Choir. Luvada loved arts and crafts and designing floral arrangements. Her greatest joy, besides cooking, was spending time with her family and friends. Each year her heart's desire was hosting the Sandusky Old Timers Reunion, which she co-founded; it gave her joy to see her family and friends reuniteannually.
Luvada worked several years at the old Philco Plant and was also employed by Dixon Ticonderoga, formerly American Crayon Company, where she retired after more than 32 years of service. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she was active in the Rosebud Guild and sang with the Oscerian Singers.
Leaving to cherish her precious memories are her three brothers, the Rev. John (Katie) Stovall, Sandusky, Franklin "Pete" (Betty) Stovall, Flint, Mich., and Waymond Stovall, Warren, Ohio; devoted brother-in-law, Thomas "Abe" Abrams; special nieces, Brenda Parker and Louise Cunningham; nephews, Stuart Abrams, David Abrams, Charles Abrams and Myron Abrams; special great-great-niece, Branderra Parker; special sister-in-law, Bernell Ray; close friends, Esther Colvin and Elsie Hardin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Doshia (Singleton) Stovall; two brothers, Jerry Stovall and Paul Winfred "Conley" Stovall; three sisters, Mabel (Stovall) Abrams, Gloria "Jeanie" (Stovall) Graves, Marian Stovall; nephew, Steven Abrams; and close sister-in-law, Ossie (Churchwell) Stovall.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. on Saturday, until services at 1 p.m., in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
