William C. Souter, 88, of Huron died Monday morning, Feb. 11, 2008, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Sandusky and was a 1937 graduate of Sandusky High School. He also attended Bowling Green State University. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. After serving four years of active duty he enlisted in the Army National Guard, retiring after 30 years of service as a major. He was employed at the former New Departure-Hyatt for 34 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of First Faith Community Church, Sandusky, was a life member of Commodore Denig Post 83, American Legion and Elks Lodge 285. Bill was also a member of the Reserves Officers, Science Lodge 50, F.& A.M. and Singara Grotto.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Jean A. Kerste; two sons, William (Lisa) Souter of Huron and Rick (Teresa) Souter of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Lydia, Samuel, Benjamin, Zachery, Gloria, Jonathan and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lydia (Gerlach) Souter.
Family services will be private officiated by the Rev. Eric Rickel. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
