John P. Kessler, 60, of Vickery, passed away Saturday night, Feb. 9, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born July 29, 1947, in Sandusky, and worked for Moser Construction starting in May 1966, and retiring in 2006. He was a member of Labor Union Local 480 and the Moose Lodge in Clyde. John was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and riding his Kubota, and was always full of smiles.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine (Griffin) Kessler; daughter, Sherry (Edward) Szuch of Curtice, Ohio; stepdaughters, Laure (Chris) Gowitzka-Swain of Fremont and Deb (Tom) Sengstock of Bellevue; granddaughter, Ashley (Daniel) Hirzel of Oregon, Ohio; sister, Linda Townsend of Castalia; lots of grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marcella (Bateman) Kessler; stepdaughter Tina Kessler; and brother-in-law, Sonny Townsend.
Friends may call 3-8 p.m. today in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Deacon Milton Opper will officiate. Burial will be in Venice Cemetery.
