Delbert C. Long, 81, of Port Clinton, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, in Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton.
He was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Port Clinton, the son of the late Ray and Anna (Drickhammer) Long. He married Kathleen Cooley April 25, 1953, and she preceded him in death July 4, 2001. Mr. Long worked at Standard Products for 48 years retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton; Eagles Lodge Aerie 2295, Port Clinton, and a life member of Homer D. Gardner Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2480, Port Clinton.
Surviving are his son, Dennis Long of Romano, Okla.; daughters, Linda (Tom) Jennings of Port Clinton, Cindy Conner of Port Clinton; brother, Milton Long of Port Clinton; sister, Clara Bell Bothe of Port Clinton; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brothers, Donald, and an infant brother.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Jim Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bay Township Fire Department or the donor's charity of choice.
