Joseph C. "Joe" Braun, 77, of Sandusky, loving husband and father, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday morning, Feb. 9, 2008.

He was born Oct. 5, 1930, in Margaretta Township and spent almost 72 years working on the Braun family farm. He graduated from Margaretta High School in 1948 and then served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army with the1st Cavalry overseas in Japan in 1955 and 1956.

Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, attending sessions at Firelands Cardiac Rehab and traveling. In his earlier years he enjoyed flying. He was a lifelong member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, American Legion, and then a 40-year member of the Erie County Farm Bureau and the Sandusky Cooperative Milk Producers' Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Fitz) Braun and his brother, Bernard Braun.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucy (Brotzki) Braun; children, Marian (David) Schild, Jude (Norma) Braun, Timothy (Penny) Braun, Joseph (Debra) Braun, Constance Braun, Richard (Kristin) Braun, Brian (Kelli) Braun and Suzanne (Ted) Rogachuk; sisters, Rosemary Karich, Catherine Meyers, Therese (Roger) Herold and Sister Mary Sarah Braun, SND; and brothers, Gerald Braun and Paul (Sharon) Braun. He also left behind 19 beloved grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Schild, Nicholas and Andrew Braun, Alessandra, Jacob, Jonathan, Joseph and Adam Braun, Keith Riesterer, Monica and Audrey Braun, Caleb and Samuel Pribanic, Zachary and Natalie Braun, Alexa Braun and Brooke and Sloane Rogachuk; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with a Liturgical service at 7:30 p.m. at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Christopher Kardzis will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
