Mary K. "Katie" Zimmerman, 78, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning, Feb. 8, 2008, in Cleveland Clinic.
She was born in Sandusky, March 12, 1929, and was a 1947 graduate of Sandusky High School. She worked in the cafeteria at Venice Heights School, Sandusky City Schools, for many years, and later she worked for the Sandusky Public Library. She was an avid reader, and, in the past, she enjoyed traveling with her husband.
She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and her many friends. For several years she helped with the Community Supper Program. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and the Altar & Rosary Society.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail M. Zimmerman of Charlotte, N.C., Julie A. Zimmerman of Orlando, Fla., and twins, Ann R. (Tom) Schmenk of N. Royalton, Ohio, and Amy C. (Mike) Beatty of Sandusky; and two grandchildren, Spencer Beatty and Olivia Zimmerman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. "Zim" Zimmerman in 1986; and parents, Henry and Jeanette (Miller) Rausch.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; a rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sandusky.
