Carl C. Ackerman, 92, of Huron, died Thursday Feb. 7, 2008, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born June 30, 1915, in Sandusky, and was a lifelong resident of Huron. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for New Departure, Sandusky, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Huron, and served on several church committees.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathryn (Rhodes); son, Doug (Trish) Ackerman of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Ashley, Steven, and Ian Ackerman; sisters, Nellie Jane Bursiel of Huron, and Rosetta Hamer of Hilliard, Ohio; a goddaughter, Joan (David) Lander of Castalia; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl C. and Marie (Bachman) Ackerman; and a sister, Alverna Bursiel.
Friends may call from noon on Monday until time of service at 1 p.m. in United Methodist Church, 338 Williams St., Huron; the Rev. J. Roger Skelley-Watts will officiate. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church immediately after the service. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron.
