Charles T. Bahnsen Jr. 72, of Galloway, Ohio, Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, in Select Specialty Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1935, in Sandusky, the son of the late Charles T. and Genievene (Croftcheck) Bahnsen Sr. After earning his GED, Charles studied criminology for one year at Park College. While in the military he held many jobs including PO3 Boiler Tender for eight years in the U.S. Navy; truck driver and Ranger as a sergeant in U.S. National Guard for two years; PO3 Engineman in U.S. Coast Guard for four years; and he was a power production tech and with the security police as a staff sergeant in U.S. Air Force for 10 years. He was a retired staff sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. He served 25 years in 4 branches, Navy, National Guard, Coast Guard and the Air Force, during Korean War for a year, and Vietnam War for three years. Charles was awarded 19 ribbons and citations including a Bronze Star, Air Force Commendation and Purple Heart.
Charles was a member of American Legion Post 532 and DAV Post 42.
He is survived by his wife, Nola (Rader) Bahnsen; sons, David Phillip Griffy of Bellevue and Michael Shane Griffy of Houston; sister, Barbara Ellis of Bethpage, Tenn.; niece, Brooke Ann Rader; and nephew, Justin Shane Rader.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Friday until services at 1 p.m. at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, Ohio. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
