Addie Ruth Johnson, 83, Sandusky, died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, after an extended illness.
She was born March 14, 1924, in Laurel, Miss. She was a homemaker who cared deeply for her family. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and dancing. She also loved her church family at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sandusky, and was a member of the Willing Workers there.
Her husband, Dan Johnson of Ward, Ala.; her son, David (Cathreen) Jones of Sandusky; grandchildren, David Jones Jr., Kim (Kwame) Ingrams, Robin (Kenneth) Philon, Regina Gamblin and Ronald D. Cobbs; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Adlean Bolton of Sandusky; a brother, John H. Jones of Indiana; and a host of nieces and nephews survive her.
Her parents, David and Ethel (Smith) Jones; two sisters, Jessie Jones and Daisy McGee; a brother, Andrew Jones; and a niece, Angeline Alexander, preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Friday until funeral services at 1 p.m. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky, with burial following in Oakland Cemetery. Groff Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
