Richard A. Snook, 76, of Willard, died at 10:38 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at his home. He had been failing with cancer since November.
He was born in Willard, the son of the late Ray A. and Alberta (Reding) Snook. He was a graduate of Willard High School class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Army in the 10th QM Company of the 10th Infantry Division. He served in Korea on the front hauling ammunition and supplies for the infantry. After returning, he worked as a fireman at Willard Electrical Plant, as a carpenter with the Shade family, and later he worked at Copperweld in Shelby, until retiring in 1996. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica, and the Willard Conservation League.
He is survived by his wife, Viola L. (Shade) Snook, whom he married June 30, 1956; two sons, Randal A. Snook and John E. (Alice) Snook, both of Willard; three grandchildren, Winnie, Pattrick and Raymond Snook, all of Willard; brother, Donald Snook of Marblehead; nephew, Dennis; and three nieces, Darlene, Diane and Doris. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one nephew, Douglas.
Friends may call 2- 6 p.m. Sunday in Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, 323 Myrtle Ave., Willard, and10:30 a.m. until the serviceMonday, at the church.
Funeral services will be11:30 a.m. Monday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The Rev.Kathleen Shuck will officiate.Burial will be in Maple GroveCemetery, New Haven.
