Regina M. Taber, 82, of Flat Rock, Ohio, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008.
She was born in Harrisburg, Pa. on Aug. 14, 1925, daughter of the late Andrew and Pauline (Huntz) Cudnik. She graduated from Bellevue High School and was a member of Flat Rock Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was a 50+ years member of the Bellevue VFW Auxiliary, a 25+ years member of the Bellevue American Legion Auxiliary, and the Bellevue Moose.
She had been President of the VFW Auxiliary in 1957, and had served as the District 9 Representative, and a State Ladies Auxiliary Rep for five years.
She had served as Chairman of the Voice of Democracy at the State level from 1986-1992, and then as National Representative of the Voice of Democracy in 1992. She was an Ohio Veterans Home volunteer for over 25 years, and in 1986 was awarded Volunteer of the Year. She was also a member of the Four County Young at Heart, the Golden Agers in Vermilion, and the Eastern Star in Monroeville for over two years.
Survivors include her son, Boyd Taber (Linda) Braden, Norwalk; her daughter, Betty Sanchez, Las Crusus, N.M.; four grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole, Michael, and Allen; six great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemarie (Jack) Bell, Woodstock Ga.; and two brothers, Bill (Janet) Cudnik, of Ft. Gratiot, Mich., and James (Bonny) Cudnik of New Haven, Mich.
She is preceded in death by her husband, who she married on Nov. 29, 1945, Arthur J. Taber(Oct. 9, 2001); and brothers,Andrew Cudnik and Thomas Cudnik.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, in Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Bruce Kent officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
