John William "J.J." Mitchell Jr., 29, of 2707 Boos Road, Huron, died unexpectedly early Monday morning, Jan. 28, 2008, in The Cleveland Clinic.
J.J. was born July 18, 1978, in Sandusky, and was a 1997 graduate of Perkins High School. He was a full time student at BGSU Firelands, majoring in integrated language arts. His greatest joy was being a father to his children and being an uncle. He enjoyed writing, playing the guitar, listening to music and watching sports and movies.
J.J. is survived by his wife, Erica Chaffin; three children, Isabella, Sebastian and Bimah; mother, Linda (Biechele) Mitchell; stepfather, William Knowlton; in-laws Richard and Alice Chaffin; sisters, Marci Corwin and Mary Harter; nieces, Holly Blanton, Deidre and Jackie Corwin and Janna Harter; nephews, Joseph Corwin and Dietrick and Dutch Harter; and best friend, John McCormack.
He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Mitchell Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Mary (Michelson) and Dutch Biechele; and paternal grandparents, John and Lena Mitchell.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by Pastor David Brown. Burial will be at Perkins Cemetery.
