Christopher E. "Chris" Kenne, 42, of Sandusky, died early Friday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2008, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on Dec. 20, 1965, and was a 1984 graduate of Perkins High School where he played football, and at one time held the school record for total rushing yards. He attended Heidelberg College for two years and then entered the U.S. Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne. After the service, he returned to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Once licensed, he worked at Ohio Veterans Home as an L.P.N. for 11 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family and his many friends, golfing, and was an avid Ohio State fan.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, who he married June 24, 1995, Penny L. (Shenberger) Kenne; daughters, Allison Lana and Leah Elizabeth Kenne, both at home; mother, Janice F. (Bertsch) Kenne of Sandusky; brother, Matthew (Linda) Kenne of Spring Hill, Tenn.; niece, Madison Kenne; two nephews, Zachary and Alex Kenne; father-in-law, John Shenberger of Huron; mother-in-law, Barbara Shenberger of Sandusky; and brother-in-law, Steve (Tami) Shenberger of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas J. Kenne, on Aug. 26, 2002.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Tuesday, in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday in the Funeral Home and, due to renovations at St. Mary's, a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. David Nuss will officiate. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
