Caroline H. (Hubert) Berg, 80, of Huron, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at her residence.
She was born June 16, 1927, in Avon Lake, Ohio. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, where she served with the Altar and Rosary Society and sang in the choir; she was responsible for starting the early childhood education program for the church. She was active in volunteer work throughout the years. Her great passion was gardening. She was a long-time member of Practical Gardeners. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and other games with family and friends. For many years she spent her winters in Nokomis, Fla.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clifford; daughters, Mary Lou (Tom) Hetteberg of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Virginia (Ed) Cordier of Scranton, Pa., and Carol Lynn (Scott) Smitherman of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Kenneth, of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Phil, Katie, Tim and Liz Hetteberg, and Sam and Lilly Smitherman; her brother, Ralph (Margaret) Hubert, of Leesburg, Va.; sister-in-law Martha Hubert; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Elizabeth (Doss) Hubert, and a brother,Bernard Hubert.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, in Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main Street, Huron. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery, Avon Lake.
