Glenn E. White, 84, of Sandusky, died early Monday afternoon,Jan. 21, 2008, in Parkvue Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Sandusky, Aug. 28, 1923; he was a 1941 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served 30 months in the E.T.O. as a liaison scout in the 111th Field Artillery Battalion of the 29th Infantry Division; he was awarded the Bronze Star and three battle stars. He worked for 33 years for General Motors starting at New Departure-Hyatt in 1947, and later transferring to Delco Electronics in Kokomo, Ind., where he was a tool and die supervisor, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, gardening, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, was a life member of the Elks and American Legion, and a member of the YMCA Senior Golf League.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn M. (Huber) White, who he married Oct. 2, 1948; two sons, Dr. Ronald White of Bloomington, Ind., Terrence (Donna) White of Shelby Twp., Mich.; three grandchildren, Katie, Kristen and Matthew; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Thomas & Helma (Thompson) White; three brothers, Milton Jr., Derrill and Reid White.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with prayer service at7:30 p.m., in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave.,Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Saturday morning in the funeral home, followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church; the Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery,Sandusky.
