Samuel Roy Jones, 80, ofSandusky, died early Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 15, 2008, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born April 1, 1927, in Corbin, Ky. He retired as a brakeman from the Louisville-Nashville Railroad after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, farming, fixing things and spending time with family and friends.
He was a loving father and grandfather to three daughters, Kathleen M. (Matthew) Witt of Castalia, Linda (Michael) Metz of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Nancy Lou Jones; one son, Billy Joe Jones; six grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Ben, Alex, Amanda and Morgan; one great-grandchild, Angelina; two sisters, Stella Mahan and Donna Hollingsworth, both of Corbin; and his ex-wife, Betty (Putich) Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lulabelle (Scaff) Jones; two sisters, Olmar and Ida; and two brothers, Oliver and Tilford.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Friday until funeral services at1 p.m. in Groff Funeral Home,1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky.The Rev.Doug Garand of St. Mary Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
