Thomas M. Campbell Sr., 59, a Sandusky resident since 1979, died unexpectedly on his birthday, Saturday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2008, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Jan. 12, 1949, in Elizabeth, N.J., the son of Joseph and Madonna Campbell. He was a graduate of Carteret High School in Carteret, N.J. He was employed by Mallott's Moving and Storage for 12 years, and then by Murray and Murray for the 13 years prior to his death.
He was a Vietnam veteran, serving his country proudly with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Whyde) Campbell; twin daughter and son, Amber Campbell of Put-in-Bay and Thomas (Tina Strong) Campbell of Willard; children, Darla (Carl Smiddy) Chesser of Willard, Don (Tonda) Chesser of Port Clinton and Edward (Debra) Chesser and Terry (Paula) Chesser, both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Alexis Nicole Campbell, Rebecca, Matthew, Donald, Charles, Angela, Leanna, Natalie, Justin, and Kayla Chesser; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Glenda and Melissa.
His parents and a granddaughter, Melissa "Moe" Chesser who died in 2000, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Thursday until funeral services at 2 p.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
