Lawrence "Larry" E. Evans, 66, Sandusky, died on Friday evening, Jan. 11, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Sept. 15, 1941, in Adams County, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran and received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and other medals. He was a member of VFW Post 2529, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Evans, Sandusky; daughter, Tricia (Jason) Yochum, Fort Meade, Md.; stepdaughters, Tammy (Michael) Espeland, Fort Campbell, Ky., Tracy (John) Christensen, Natural Bridge, N.Y., and Teri Harmon, Sandusky; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Wanda (Wade) Wright, Portsmouth, Ohio, Karen L. Evans, West Union, Ohio, and Cheryl (Joe) Hossler, Fremont; brother, Dutch (Rose Anna) Evans, Blue Creek, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Paul and Mildred (Lamm) Evans; his brothers, William Paul Evans, Michael Robert Evans, and one in infancy; sisters, Patricia Lou Blankenship, Christine Evans Ebright, Bonnie Lee Evans, and one in infancy; niece, Jennifer Ebright; and nephew, Chad Evans.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. Tuesday until military services at 3 p.m., by American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, and from 5 p.m. until time of tribute services at 7 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; Ernie Bowman of the American Legion will officiate.
