Martha J. Rieger, 76, Sandusky, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus.
She was born in Cleveland on Feb. 19, 1931. She was employed by the former New Departure Hyatt for 17 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of UAW Local 913 retirees, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Schwab, Sandusky, and Stacey (Robert) Herber, Milan; son, Knute (Lena) Rieger, Sandusky; grandchildren, Brian (Christy) Burre, Brandy (Tim Reinke) Burre, Andrea (Robert) Meyer, Alyssa Herber, Robert Herber Jr., Trevor Rieger, and Kaylynn Rieger; stepgrandchildren, Anthony Herber, Gwen Herber, Brian Schwab and Mathew Schwab; five great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-granddaughter; brother, Charlie (Mary) Lant, Overland Park, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Rose (Bright) Lant Sr.; former husband, Wardell Rieger, in 1977; daughter, Casey Rieger in infancy; sisters, Alberta Newell and Rose Olson; brothers, Albert Lant Jr., and Harry Lant; half sisters, Bertha O'Brien and Lorreta O'Brien; half brother, Clarence O'Brien; and a 10-month-old stepgreat-grandson, Donavan Lykins.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Monday until time of
ervices at 2 p.m., in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. John Mawhirter of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky, will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
