Richard A. Borchardt, 57, of Castalia Street, Bellevue, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was bornNov. 27, 1950, in Niles, Ohio, to Richard C. and LaDonna (Hazelbach) Borchardt Myers. He married Marilyn Myers April 14, 1972, at Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue.
Richard was a 1969 graduate of Bellevue High School. He was employed at Scott Paper, Sandusky, involved with the Bellevue Auxiliary Police Dept. and was a police officer for the village of Castalia before becoming the manager of Willard Plumbing and Heating. At the time of his death, he was a local sales agent for Humana Insurance. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus and Eagles Aerie 490. He was an avid Bellevue Redmen fan. He enjoyed fishing and had a love for animals. His favorite holiday was Christmas and he enjoyed bringing the "spirit of Christmas" to life as one of Santa's helpers.
Richard is survived by his wife; two sons, Curt (Jen) Borchardt of Columbus and Scott Borchardt of Cleveland; daughter, Beth (Dale) Martin of Bellevue; three grandsons, Hunter, Ashton and Jackson Martin; mother and step-father, LaDonna and Kenneth Myers of Fremont; two sisters, Jan Marie (Chuck) Smith of Hilliard, Ohio, and Julie (Phil) Cloud of Bellevue; and nephews, Rob Black and Bryan and Kevin Cloud.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, William.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to The Bellevue Hospital or Huron County Humane Society.
