Angelo J. Capizzi, 87, Sandusky, died at his home late Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2008, after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Sandusky, and was a 1939 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He received two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and a Bronze Arrowhead Medal while serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He worked for the former Hinde & Dauch and Westvaco Paper companies in Sandusky for many years before retiring. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by his stepson, Frederick W. (Cheryl) Kent of North Salt Lake City, Utah; stepdaughter, Amy (Skip) Dean of Austinburg, Ohio; four stepgrandchildren, Jeff, Jason, Kristen, and Sean; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyler and Tony; brother, Nicholas J. Capizzi of Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosario (Patti) Capizzi; wife, Marie (Lewis) Capizzi in 1971; and two brothers, Oscar and Charles Capizzi.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meadow Green Memorial Park Chapel, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
