Shirley J. (Hizer) Dickman, 63, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly late Sunday morning, Dec. 23, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
She was born Aug. 4, 1944, in Leslie, W.Va., and was a 1962 graduate of Dennison High School in Dennison, Ohio. She moved to the Sandusky area in 1962 and worked for more than 20 years at Behnke's Telephone Answering Service, retiring in December 2006. She was an avid card player and was involved in card clubs for many years. She loved family gatherings, cookouts, playing board games with her grandchildren and going on gambling junkets to Las Vegas with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ronald C. Dickman whom she married March 14, 1964; daughters, Lisa Dickman of Vickery, and Terri (Rob) Taggart, Sherri (Mark) Klenk, both of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Hillary and Lindsey Dickman, Micky and Katie Taggart and Marcus and Matthew Klenk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret (Walkup) Hizer and two brothers in infancy.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Clyde R. Yost Jr. of Wayside Temple will officiate. Entombment will be in Oakland Cemetery Mausoleum.
