Dorothy Louise (Rhonehouse) Whetstone-Minard, 88, of Sandusky, died Sunday evening, Dec. 16, 2007, in Parkvue Health Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Sandusky. She retired from New Departure Hyatt after 25 years of service.
Dorothy is survived by four daughters, Margaret "Margie" Whetstone-Tippie, Florence Steirhoff and Dorothy Ebeling, all of Sandusky, and Linda (Lloyd) Pitsenbarger of Huron; two half brothers, Max Rhonehouse and Leonard Rhonehouse; two half sisters, Eileen "Lolly" Rhonehouse and Ester Rhonehouse; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Whetstone Sr.; two sons, Fredrick L. Whetstone on Jan. 7, 1938, and Walter "Wally" Whetstone on Nov. 6, 2000; a daughter, Marilyn Whetstone on Jan. 29, 1991; her mother, Edna Louise Voltz on May 15, 1933; her father, George Rhonehouse, also in 1963; a brother, George Rhonehouse; and long-time companion, William Becker.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Rob Patton of St. Stephen United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Cemetery.
