Alois "Al" Jerome Meyers, 79, of Walnut St., Bellevue, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at home.
He was born June 4, 1928, to Ralph F. and Catherine (Eberl) Meyers, now deceased. Al worked as an auto mechanic with the former Desoto-Plymouth Dealership, Bellevue, and was self-employed as an auto mechanic. He was a race car driver for many years and an avid NASCAR racing fan. Al was a U.S. Army veteran as a staff sergeant, COB 49th Tank BN, 4th Inf. Div. from 1950-53. He was a lifetime member of VFW post 1238 and member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Nordseth of Milwaukee, Wis.; three grandsons, Michael, Eric and Kyle Nordseth of Milwaukee; a brother, Robert (Mary Ellen) Meyers of Bellevue; a niece, Diane; and a nephew, Mark.
He was preceded in by his parents.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, with the Very Rev. Father Keith Stripe officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
