Johnnie M. "Jackie" Burchett, of Sandusky, departed this life Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born July 4, 1936, in Albany, Ky. In his early years he came to Sandusky to work at Waldock Packing Co., where he was employed until it closed.
Johnnie came to know the Lord in 1984 and joined Sandusky Baptist Temple. Due to illness, he became a shut-in member.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Burchett; his parents, Morton and Dora (Andrews) Burchett; and three brothers, Charlie, Enry and Morton Jr. Burchett.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted, loving and caring wife of 52 years, Patricia Jane (Alexander) Burchett; his two sons, Marshall Paul (Debbie) Burchett of Lawrenceville, Va., and Arthur (Diane) Burchett of Sandusky; four daughters, Ida Mae (John) Matthews, Lisa Burchett, Mary Burchett and Trina (Shane) Wilhelm, all of Sandusky; 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Flim (Pauline) Burchett of Louisville, Ky., James (Leona) Burchett of Las Vegas and William (Ruby) Burchett of Louisville; four sisters, Glenna Alexander of Albany, Patriss Moore of Louisville, Emily (Frank) Alexander of Sandusky and his twin sister, Janie (Larry) Johnson of Albany; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Friday until services at 1 p.m. in Sandusky Baptist Temple, 3706 Milan Road, Sandusky. The Rev. Wally Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Groff Funeral Home, Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
