Paul K. "Butch" Dresser, 71, of Sandusky, passed away Monday morning, May 10, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 6, 1938, in Sandusky and was a 1956 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Mr. Dresser was a U.S. Navy veteran. He served his county for four years. While in the service he crossed the equator and became a Shellback, an honor bestowed by the Navy, and became a member of King Neptunes's Court. He also served during the end of the Korean War.
Butch was employed as a truck driver for 35 years. He worked for Fletcher Freight Lines, Norwalk Truck Lines and retired from Yellow Freight System. He was also a farmer, who loved to farm, hunt and fish. Mr. Dresser was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sandusky, and a life member of Lowell C. Hein Post 2529, VFW, Sandusky.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sharon Meyers, whom he would have been married to 50 years on June 18, 2010, and their children, Scott (Katrina) Dresser, Steve (Michele) Dresser and Shelley Dresser (Scott) Taylor; seven grandchildren, Wendy Dresser (Aaron) Kidd, Kenny Dresser, Haley Dresser, Hannah Dresser, Dawon (Christee) Taylor, Katie Taylor and Codey Taylor; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanne Borsick; and one brother, Keith Dresser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Kathryn (Speer) Dresser, and aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., Sandusky and from 9 a.m. Friday until services at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills St., Sandusky. The Revs. Gary Ulrich and Gerald Bauer will officiate. Entombment will be in the Meadow Green Memorial Park Mausoleum, Huron.
