Helen M. Buckingham, 89, of Sandusky, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born June 27, 1918, in Sandusky, to the union of William and Elsa Milligan. She was a 1936 graduate of Sandusky High School and a life long resident of Sandusky. She was employed at the former Peoples Loan and Savings from 1936 through 1949. In 1949 she married Frank H. Buckingham. Helen was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Sandusky, since 1936. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Firelands Hospital, having volunteered at the Hospital Gift Shop.
She is survived by her sister, Virginia (Sam) Holland and niece, Kathleen Dewitt, all of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; two nephews, Tom Holland of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Bob Holland of Germany; daughter-in-law, Linda Buckingham of Monroeville; and a stepdaughter, Janis Goodsite of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Buckingham in 1971; her parents; one stepson, Thomas S. Buckingham; and one stepdaughter, Joanne Brindley.
Private graveside funeral services were today in Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville. The Rev. Donald Brown of Salem United Methodist Church officiated.
