George J. "Sonny" Hudson, 72, of Sandusky, was called Home to be with Our Lord late Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, 2007, in Elyria Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Sandusky and was a 1955 graduate of Sandusky High School. Sonny worked for 23 years at Grill Meats and later retired from Stein Inc. in 1999. He was an avid fisherman from the age of nine and was known as "Big George" on the lake. He enjoyed life with his loving family and his dear friends. George had many interests including: Gardening, wine making, karaoke, playing cards and wintering in Florida.
He was a life long member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, a member of Knights of Columbus, AMVETS Post 17, American Legion Post 83, and the Taco Choir.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet M. (Fairfield) Hudson; daughters, Terry (Wayne) Kaye of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Judy Hudson of Sandusky; sons, Steve Hudson and Mark (Teri) Hudson, both of Sandusky; brother, Richard L. Hudson of San Pedro, Calif.; sister-in-law, Carole (Larry) Tight of Sandusky; and special nephews, nieces and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd John and Norma Hildegard (Winters) Hudson.
At his request cremation will take place. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where a Liturgical service will be at 6 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. A celebration of George's life will be in the spring when, as he had requested, his cremains will be scattered in Lake Erie.
