Earnest F. Nixon, 86, of Monroeville, died peacefully Nov. 19, 2007, in Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Scotch Ridge, Wood County, Ohio. He attended Webster School and Bowling Green State University, then enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served during WW II. He was happily married to Catherine M. Smith on July 9, 1943. Earnest was a lifelong farmer. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Other hobbies were reading, woodworking and golfing.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty (Roger) Dickman of Monroeville; two sons, Allen (Pat) Nixon of Berea, Ohio, and John (Darlene) Nixon of Monroeville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine M. Nixon, in February 2007; his parents, John and Minnie (Cross) Nixon; three brothers; and one sister.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Wednesday until funeral service at 11 a.m. at Church of The Nazarene, 4013 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David Flack will officiate. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery.
