Jessie Mae Jamison, 71, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, after a brief illness.
She was born April 2, 1936, in Webb, Miss., and moved to Sandusky from Lorain. In Lorain, she worked at Tropicana Restaurant and Castle on the Lake. While living in Sandusky, she worked at Berardi's Family Kitchen. Jessie loved cooking and spending time with her family.
She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Sherry Johnson; grandchildren, Leslie Johnson, Tyanthony Johnson, Bradley Wilkes Jr., and Tyler Wilkes, all of Sandusky; stepmother, Essie Smith of Lorain; sisters, Rosielee Jones of Mississippi, Emma Jean (Sam) Spraggins of Lorain, Joyce Hamilton and Leona Hawkins, both of California, and Rhett Noble of Oklahoma; brothers, Melvin Smith and James Smith, both of California, William Ward, George (Nancy) Smith Jr. and Tedario (Andrea) Smith, all of Lorain, Olvin (Michelle) Smith of Elyria and Leroy (Ann) Johnson of Mississippi; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Mae Maggitt, and father, George Smith Sr.; grandparents; two aunts; six uncles; and a special friend, Evans Belle.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday until funeral services at 1 p.m. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. The Rev. Barbara Huston will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
