Donald L. Hess, 85, of Sandusky, died November 15, 2007, in the Erie County Care Facility following a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 12, 1921, in Sandusky to Roy L. and Helen (Von Hausen) Hess.
Hess was retired as a machine operator after 22 years from the former Scott Paper Company in Sandusky.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, serving on destroyers in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. He was a member of the Sandusky V.F.W. Post 2529.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Thomas L. and Peggy Hess of Lima, one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife Verna Mae (Decker) Hess who died in 1991, his parents and two sisters Doris Flowers and Jean A. Hess.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Monday in the Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Charles Odums will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
