Robert R. "Bob" Taylor, 82, of 1126 Waverly Road, Sandusky, passed away Saturday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Sandusky, and was a 1943 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. Bob was employed for more than 50 years at Mack Iron Works, Sandusky.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky, was a member and past master of Science Lodge 50, F. & A.M., Knights of the York Cross of Honour, Sandusky City Chapter 72, R.A.M., Sandusky City Council, No. 26, R. & S.M., Erie Commandery, No. 23, K.T., Eleanor Chapter 331, O.E.S., Singara Grotto, The Navy Landing Ship Tank Association, and was a member of the former Calvary Episcopal Church, where he had served as senior warden on several occasions. Bob was also active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scout Master for several years. He had been a Little League coach with various youth baseball leagues. He was also a member of the Lowell C. Hein Post 2529, VFW.
He is survived by is wife of 58 years, the former Rhoda A. Young; one son, Thomas (Nan) Taylor of Cadillac, Mich.; three grandchildren, Christopher, Taryn and Ryan; one great-granddaughter, Tyana; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Barney) Wheeler of Columbus, Ga., two nieces, Abby (Paul) Bernard and Elizabeth (Patrick) Tisdale, both of Virginia; cousins, Jack (Joyce) Mulaney of Huron , Betty Ott of Sandusky, Marvin Scherz of Clyde, Viola Scherz of Norwalk, Larry (Phyllis) Taylor of Sandusky and Lois Paule of Castalia; and very special friends, Carol, Chris, Char and Jordan Reinhard and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Jane (Souter) Taylor.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Wednesday until funeral services at 11 a.m. in Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky. The Rev. M. Webster Maughan will officiate. Science Lodge 50 will hold their memorial service at this time. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
