Susan A. Gallegos, 74, of Sandusky, died peacefully early Saturday morning, Nov. 10, 2007, with family at her side in Erie County Care Facility, Huron.
Mrs. Gallegos was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Clay, W. Va., to Ben and Emma (Smith) DeBoard. She had been a resident of Sandusky since 1954. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sandusky Eagles and the former IAB Club. Before moving to Sandusky, she helped run the family farm at Indore, W. Va. She was a homemaker for many years, then was employed by Markley's Restaurant and Cedar Point for several years before retiring in 1999. She enjoyed baking cakes and cookies, and really enjoyed gambling and playing various games with friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Baldomero Gallegos of Sandusky; four sons, Richard E. (Mary) Gallegos of Ottawa Hills, Ohio, Joel A Gallegos of Charlotte, N.C., Gary D. (Barbara) Gallegos of Huron and Bruce B. Jonas of Woodbridge, Va.; two sisters, Donnie Young of Oak Hill, W. Va., and Elsie Williams of Pax, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, Ida Mae Fitzgerald of Mansfield, Ohio, and Vinolla DeBoard of Ravenswood W. Va.; grandson, Andrew Gallegos of Sylvania, Ohio; three granddaughters, Jamie Childress of Staunton, Va., Lauren E. Gallegos and Meredith E. Gallegos, both of Huron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Emma DeBoard; sisters, Lucy Hollcomb, Shirley Moore and Ottive Holcomb; brothers, Raymond, Claude, Dencil, Benjamin, Damon and Sam; granddaughter, Dana L. Gallegos.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited 9:40 a.m. Tuesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
