ANN ARBOR, MICH.
Stephen R. Semple, 58, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Chaska Beach in Huron, passed away Nov. 5, 2007, in Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit due to complications from a bone marrow transplant.
He was born on May 21, 1949, in Ashland, Ohio, the son of the now deceased Kenneth V. and Harriet (Reaser) Semple. The family spent every summer at Chaska Beach in Huron. Steve married Peggy Melzow on April 22, 1972, in Owosso, Mich.
Steve is survived by his wife Peggy; children, Kristin and Brian (Michelle); mother-in-law, Joan Melzow; sisters-in-law, Janet Semple, Martha (Gerry Andrianopoulos) Melzow , Mary (Dave Chrenko) Melzow and Sally (Mike Loflin) Sterling ; nieces, Lisa (Andy) Ernstand and Sarah Sterling; nephews, Michael (Jill) Semple, Sean Sterling and MatthewLassiter; and great-nephews, Otto and Joe Ernst.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth V. andHarriet (Reaser) Semple; his brother, Maurice V. Semple; and his father-in-law, Leroy W. Melzow.
Steve graduated from Adrian College in 1972. He was a banker in Ann Arbor.
He was an avid fan of all athletics at the University of Michigan.
He loved everything about summers at Chaska Beach and Lake Erie with his family and life long friends.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor, Mich.
Visitation will be there 3-8 p.m. Friday. A memorial service will be3 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, 120 S. State St., Ann Arbor.
Cremation has occurred.
