Vivian M. (Towne) Gerten, 84, of Toledo and formerly of Norwalk, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Tiffin, Ohio. She lived in Norwalk for more than 45 years and recently relocated to Toledo with her daughter. She worked as a counselor at Ohio Veteran's Home, Sandusky, retiring in 1996, and was a past member of the Christian Women's Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Hartman of Toledo; her sister, Mary Helen Towne of Huntingon, W.Va.; her grandchildren, Michelle Lutz of Waterville, Ohio, and Robert Hartman of Toledo; her great-grandchildren, Amber Lutz and Aaron Hartman, both of Waterville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Gerten; her son, Michael Allen Gerten in 1981; her parents, Charles and Stella Towne; her brothers, Robert Towne, Paul Towne and Patrick Towne; and her son-in-law, Robert Hartman in 1997.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Kenneth Lill, pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery in Norwalk.
