Rita C. Scherley, 86, of 545 W. Market St., Tiffin, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 2, 2007, in Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin, surrounded by her loving family

She was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Bismark, in Huron County,to Albion and Clara (Bishoff) Hahler. She married Leonard Scherley on April 30, 1946, in Bismark and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Duane (Evelyn) Scherley and Edwin Scherley, both of Tiffin; three daughters, Leann Scherley of Tiffin, Karen Ann (Randy) McDaniel of Willard and Vonda (Paul) Davis of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren, Duana (Brian) Coleman, Sheraton ( Robert) Richardson, Carrie (Tim) Van Zoest, Megan Holland, Jason Scherley, Austin Davis and Justin Scherley; and six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Sierra and Payton Richardson, Bria Coleman, and Natalie and Isabella Van Zoest.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Gilbert, Clarence and Eugene Hahler; a sister, Loretta Fritz; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, St. Aloysius Altar Rosary Society, Friendship Circle in Tiffin, Grandmothers Club, Autumnwood Volunteers of America Auxiliary, the Tiffin Eagles and Moose, the Willard American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, The Red Hats (Ramblin Rosies Chapter at Autumnwood), the Nifty Fifties, Republic Senior Citizens, and Seneca County Farm women. She worked at the Board of Elections as a precinct worker and judge in Scipio Twp.

Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. Ohio 19, Bloomville, where Rosary services will be 1 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, with the Rev. Paul Fahrbach and the Rev. Joseph Szybka officating. Burial will be in Reed Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Reed Twp., Seneca County.

Memorial contributions may be made to Reed Assumption Cemetery; Seneca County School of Opportunity; or to Autumwood Care Center Chapel Fund.
