Mary Lean Kidd - January 8, 1928-October 26, 2007

Mary Lean Kidd, Sandusky, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, after a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Columbus, Miss., to the Rev. Johnny and Maude (Harris) Swope. Mary lost her birth mother at a very young age and together with her sister, Sallie, was raised by a loving mother, "Mother" Malissia Swope. At the age of 18, Mary married Ivy Kidd and they later moved to Gulfport, Miss., she was the mother of Carolyn, John Ivy, Mary, Robert, Cynthia, David and Maxine.

In 1963, Mary moved from Mississippi to Sandusky where she united with the Assembly of Jesus Christ Church. In addition to being a minister, Mary was a missionary and one of the best soloists in the Body of Christ. For a number of years, she served her home church as Sunday school superintendent and later assumed the same position at the Northern Ohio District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. Locally, Mary was a member of the Adult Choir, Prayer Chaplain to the Voices of Witness, a member of the Missionary Society and the Pastor's Aide Ministry. More than anything, she was a very loving and caring child of the King.

Mary was a valued employee of the Waldock family for many years. After her retirement, she worked part-time for Goodwill Industries. Mary truly loved to cook and bake and was especially known for her homemade zucchini bread and sweet potato pies.

Mary is survived by two sons, John Ivy (Lynda) Kidd of Mansfield, Ohio, and Robert Kidd of Nashville, Tenn.; four daughters, Carolyn Adkison and Mary (Sam) Smith, both of Mansfield, Cynthia (American) Sanders and Maxine Kidd, with whom she made her home, both of Sandusky; two daughters-in-law, Pamela Kidd of Lorain and Pamela Kidd of Sandusky; four sisters, Sallie McKinney of Sandusky, Ann (Tom) Bond and Bennie (John) Shoulders, both of Mansfield, and Doris (James) White of Cincinnati; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivy Kidd; birth mother, Maude (Harris) Swope; parents, the Rev. Johnny and Mother Malissia Swope; son, David Kidd; stepdaughter, Nancy (Kidd) Harris; and granddaughter, Rose Harris.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. Thursday until services at 1 p.m. at the Assembly of Jesus Christ Church, 3510 Beatty Ave., Sandusky. Elder Johnnie W. Cross will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery.
