Barbara M. (Boyne) McQueen, 82, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, Oct. 27, 2007, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 3, 1925, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, and graduated from St. Dunstan School. She was employed over the years by the Canadian Oil Company; Blue Cross & Blue Shield in the 40s and 50s and when she moved to the area she was employed by the New York Life Insurance Company. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where she had been a Eucharistic Minister and was active on the Visiting and Bereavement committees; Women's Civic Club; Christian Women's Club, and had volunteered for the American Red Cross.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Ann McQueen of Virginia Beach, Va., Valerie (James) McMurtrie of Ypsilanti, Mich.; son, John McQueen of Sandusky; granddaughter, Suzanne McMurtrie of Ypsilanti; stepson, James McQueen of Toronto; sisters, Mary Hancox of Oromcto, New Brunswick, Catherine Boyne of Montreal, Maureen Boone of London, Ontario, Canada; brother, Vaughan Boyne of Fredericton, New Brunswick; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James McQueen on Jan. 3, 1994; a son in infancy, James Daniel McQueen, Jan. 11, 1961; parents, Vincent and Marguerite (White) Boyne; sister, Pauline Whalen; and two brothers, James and John Boyne.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Christopher Kardzis will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sandusky.
