Robert William Leber, 79, of 2831 Peru Center Road South, Monroeville, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, 2007, as a result of an auto accident in Morrow County, Ohio.
He was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Monroeville, and was a 1946 graduate of Monroeville High School. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1950-52. He was a life-long farmer and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, the St. John Neuman Chapter 1117, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 547, Monroeville, the VFW Post 6689993, Norwalk, and former Monroeville School Board President. Bob was an avid sports enthusiast, as he closely followed his kids' and grandkids' activities, especially Monroeville Eagles sporting events. He was very much a Ohio State Buckeye fan and a strong Cleveland Indians supporter.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Kathleen Kehres, whom he married June 18, 1955; his sons, Thomas of Sandusky, Kenneth (Jeanne) of Norwalk, Leonard (Christine) of Westerville, Fredrick (Theresa) of Monroeville and Harold (Mary) of Centerburg; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Karl Leber of Norwalk; and two sisters, Helen Privett of Norwalk and Shirley (Art) Schalk of New Reigel.
He was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Martha Janet (Baker) Leber; and one sister, Alice Hintz.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday in Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe St., Monroeville, where Christian Wake Services for the family will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville, with the Rev. Kenneth J. Lill officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville.
