Garnetta E. (Kistler) Russell, 90, of 607 Ogontz St., Sandusky, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born June 25, 1917, in Bellevue, the daughter of Earl and Ida (Bauer) Kistler. She was a 1935 Bellevue High School graduate, and was employed 35 years as head waitress at Plum Brook Country Club. She attended Emmanuel United Church of Christ; was a 50-year member of the Women of the Moose; was a member of the Eastern Star; a former Lady Elk; a member of the Eagle's Lodge of Sebastian, Fla.; and a member of Fireland's Hospital Auxiliary.
Garnetta is survived by her daughters, Sandra Russell and Roberta (Thomas) Kessler; grandsons, Thomas (Angela) Kessler and Robert (Paula) Kessler; great-grandchildren, Brittany Burke, Michael and Allison Kessler and Brittany Broughton; great-great-granddaughter, Jennaci Sammarco; sisters, Ruth Berlin and Janet Christiansen; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert, who died in April of 2004; her parent; her sisters, Elsie, Isabel, Elizabeth, LaVaghn and Esther; and brothers, William, Earl and Lamar.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 334 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Elmer Novak officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Home, Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
