Avis I. Badger, 85, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in Providence Care Center.
She was born on Feb. 8, 1922, in Newburg, Iowa. She attended BIOLA University in Southern California, and Registered Nursing School at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Ill.
She worked as a registered nurse for the former Good Samaritan Hospital, Sandusky, an office nurse for Dr. Schlicht and a private duty nurse helping many area families. Avis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sandusky.
She was a very loving, caring person, who gave of herself to others. She loved Jesus, her church and her family. She enjoyed animals, yard work, reading and music. She will truly be missed.
She is survived by her sister, Julie Spencer of San Jose, Calif.; nephews, James A. (Renee) Bryner of Castalia and Edwin F. (Juanita) Bryner of Sandusky; several nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces, including Sarah Bryner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Alice (Breeden) Badger; sisters, Lorene Fusco, Naomi Butcher and Wanda Bryner; and brother, Harley Badger.
Avis has donated her body to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David L. Hixson will officiate.
